Verdict

Carrots are one of the healthiest snacks you can give a dog. They are low in calories, high in fiber and beta-carotene (vitamin A precursor), and the crunching action helps clean teeth. Both raw and cooked carrots are safe. Baby carrots, carrot sticks, and whole carrots are all suitable — just wash them. No preparation beyond washing is needed.

What to do

Feed raw or cooked carrots as a treat or meal topper. Very large pieces could be a choking hazard for small dogs — cut to appropriate size. A great alternative to commercial treats.
