Verdict

Yes — nutritious and delicious dog treat.

Verdict

Strawberries are an excellent treat for dogs — high in fiber, vitamin C, and folate, and they contain malic acid which may help whiten teeth. They are low in calories and fat. Remove the leaves and stem before serving. Strawberries are also high in natural sugar, so moderation is important for diabetic dogs.

Symptoms to watch for

  • GI upset with very large amounts

What to do

Rinse, remove the leaves and stem, and slice into pieces suitable for your dog's size. Fresh or frozen (thawed) both work well. A handful as a treat is perfect. Great as a warm-weather frozen treat.
